e-Library — Knowledge & Research

Patents, journals, and books — searchable from the desk, not the library card index.

e-Library is the knowledge-and-research module of Efixera: it brings the Patent Fund, world-renowned journals, oil-industry books, the library catalog, library users, and abstracts into one searchable place with semantic search — so researchers find prior art, standards and literature from their desk, linked to the documents and standards their projects actually use.

The status quo

What it replaces

Researchers hunt for prior art, standards and literature by walking to the library and asking the librarian.

Patents, journals, books and abstracts live in separate places with no single searchable entry point.

Holdings are tracked on cards, so prior-art work is duplicated and scientific resources are under-used.

Functional core

What the module does

Patent Fund & Abstracts

  • Database of global patents — information and documents for prior-art search and reference.
  • Database of abstracts (autoreferats) for dissertation and research reference.

Journals & Books

  • Database of world-renowned journals for researchers conducting scientific research.
  • Database of oil-industry books.

Library Catalog & Users

  • Electronic catalog of titles, publication dates and authors held in the institute's library.
  • Registry of library users for borrowing and access.
  • Semantic search across the public research holdings (patents / journals / books / catalog / abstracts).

In context

How it works with the rest of the platform

Document → Source

A released document in e-EDMS (DCC) links to its source literature or standard.

Standard → Catalog

Standards referenced from the catalog reconcile with the e-QMS Normative DB.

Single sign-on

One Efixera login and access model across the library and every other module.

Status quo vs. e-Library

The difference, line by line

Status quo
With Efixera
Card catalog, librarian-mediated search
Electronic catalog, self-service semantic search
Patents / journals / books in separate places
One entry point across asset types
Library disconnected from project work
Linked to e-EDMS documents and e-QMS standards

Compliance

Standards this module serves

  • Access to scientific resources controlled via the platform access model.
  • Borrower identity linked to Efixera Core identity where the user is staff.
  • Licensing/copyright terms of external patent/journal databases tracked per source.

FAQ

Common questions

Can we adopt e-Library on its own?+

Yes. e-Library stands alone on the same Efixera login and access model, and gains value as adjacent modules join — its holdings link to released documents in e-EDMS and to standards in the e-QMS Normative DB.

How is the search different from a folder of PDFs?+

Semantic search runs across the public research holdings — patents, journals, books, catalog and abstracts — so a researcher finds prior art and literature by meaning from their desk, instead of walking to the library and asking the librarian.

What happened to the Phone Book and the online translator?+

Both moved to Efixera Core — the Phone Book is the platform-wide Org Directory and the translator is a Core utility/AI service. e-Library is now trimmed to pure research-knowledge assets.

Can it connect to external patent or journal databases?+

External patent/journal database integration is on the roadmap via API/import; licensing and copyright terms are handled per source. [TBD]
