e-Lab — Laboratory & Metrology (LIMS)
Calibration that warns before it lapses. Lab conditions logged automatically.
e-Lab is the laboratory and metrology (LIMS) module of Efixera: it keeps the equipment and measuring-instrument register with color-coded calibration due-dates (expired = red, in-due-date = green), holds lab and accreditation documents per instrument, and monitors laboratory temperature and humidity in real time as an IoT add-on.
Equipment & Calibration register · Lab & accreditation documents · Temperature/Humidity (IoT) monitoring

The status quo
What it replaces
Measuring instruments miss calibration dates and a device drifts out of accreditation silently.
Lab temperature and humidity are logged by hand on paper sheets.
Operating instructions, device passports and calibration certificates are scattered — every ISO/IEC 17025 audit becomes a hunt for current evidence.
Functional core
What the module does
Equipment & Calibration register
- Equipment and measuring instruments per structural unit: inventory number, room, department, last and next calibration date.
- Calibration due-date color codes: in-due-date = green, expired = red.
Lab & accreditation documents
- Operating and testing instructions, accreditation documents, manuals.
- Per-device passports, calibration certificates and device photos — one source per instrument.
Temperature & Humidity monitoring
- Real-time temperature and humidity monitoring of the laboratory (IoT add-on).
- Anomaly detection on the reading stream and calibration-due forecasting (IoT add-on).
In context
How it works with the rest of the platform
Non-conformance → Lab
A non-conformance in e-QMS is traced to a specific instrument and its calibration record.
Single sign-on
One Efixera login and access model across the lab and every other module.
Status quo vs. e-Lab
The difference, line by line
Compliance
Standards this module serves
- ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory records — equipment, calibration, conditions — in one source.
- Metrology traceability through the calibration register and certificates.
- Continuous lab-condition evidence instead of manual logs.
FAQ
Common questions
Why is e-Lab a separate module from e-QMS now?+
It serves a distinct buyer (the laboratory head / accreditation lead), prices on a distinct unit (per lab / per instrument), and carries a distinct workload — an IoT time-series stream, not document CRUD. Quality and governance stay in e-QMS; the two are linked natively.
Can we adopt e-Lab on its own?+
Yes. e-Lab is the testing-laboratory wedge and is sellable independently of the document and quality families, on the same Efixera login and access model.
How does the temperature/humidity monitoring work?+
Lab sensors stream readings over an MQTT bridge; the readings are monitored in real time with range/MAD anomaly detection. IoT monitoring is an add-on to the core equipment/calibration register.
What stops an instrument being used out of calibration?+
The equipment register color-codes calibration due-dates — in-due-date = green, expired = red — so an overdue instrument is visible at a glance. The target is zero overdue instruments in active use.
